Dignity

deep within the tree.

Unconcerned with worthiness,

the tree stands tall and deep.

Rooted to the earth and sky

connecting life force within and beyond

belonging

possessing a right to live.

Yet deep within

I feel unworthy.

Unworthy of my body,

home,

companions,

talents.

Other times indignation.

Jealous for more,

attention,

money,

security.

The tree is not jealous.

Standing deep, wide, tall,

the tree is worthy of dignity.

Fed by deep waters below and

light from far above.

So dignity must be claimed.

Deep within…

my pain,

my body,

my power,

my passion,

my truth,

my wisdom,

my strength,

my anger,

my breath,

my healing.

I Am Worthy.
