Miracle

Breath

in and out

in and out,

rhythm of existence.

Sometimes fast,

sometimes slow.

Loudly labored

or

soft, smooth

and steady.

Music of life.

Steady, sure

until it is not.

A threshold

not easily crossed

though often

threatened.

Every day

we breathe in

the miracle.

Seemingly insignificant

often forgotten,

yet the gift

is given to all.

No flesh

unworthy

or unloved.

Empowering

bodies

to hold

the light.

A radiant

miracle

to fill

us all.

A note to my readers:)

Today on this highly celebrated day of light, I have experienced a Christmas miracle as I am currently sitting next to my mother who is napping. She has late stage lung cancer and went into near respiratory arrest two days ago, but the angels must not have been ready for her in heaven just yet.

This time of great light and celebration is also a time of grief, darkness, and pain. This juxtaposition is a source of deep beauty and I hope you are able to take the time to slow down and see, feel, and experience beauty today and in the cold days to come. Please know that I am sending love and light to you this day!

Love,

Mary Jane
