Blinders

Portrayed by man, once again.

Divinity shaped to fit.

Yet, the cool dawn of sunrise

calls all forms to life.

The flurry of birdsong.

The baby rabbit.

They worship no human form.

Pure magic of sunlight

christens all things

in beautiful shadows.

Yet we are like horses

hitched to obey.

Wearing blinders

limiting the whole picture.

Blinders intended to reduce fear.

Like draft horses,

strapped down

and tied to a heavy load,

we strain under the weight.

Is it the burden that elicits

the fear and blindness?

Wild horses gallop with abandon.

Manes streaming in the wind and the sun

like our yearning to be free.

Why is it so hard to live beyond

man’s prescribed harness for life?

To live fully.

To fear no more.

To see.
