Love

Sounds of sacred delight

rising from bellies

of children at play.

Warmth of penetrating comfort

seeping from the sun’s

precious rays.

Visions of light

sparkling from diamonds and gold

wrapped in a circle

never-ending.

Step-in-step

old, young

couples

friends

family

strolling side-by-side

companions of life.

Tender caresses

surround me,

embracing the gentle murmur.

Deeper and deeper

exquisite in beauty

exquisite in sorrow.

Life temporal

in the present

as fleeting as the breeze.

Love eternal

deep and wide

a never-ending aquifer,

the challenge of excavation

rewarded with depths

springing forth in ways

unprecedented,

previously unfathomable.

Coaxed into existence

with patient

and relentless pursuit

of the ache.

Emotion by emotion,

Cupid’s arrow points the path

beckoning us to

leave behind

parcels unneeded

and gather that

which cannot be grasped

with hands

but only carried

in our hearts.
